Lake Keepit Speed Week PDF Print E-mail

Saturday, 01 May 2010 07:45
Sunday 5th September, 9:00 am to Saturday 11th, 6:00 pm at Lake Keepit.

This coaching week is aimed at those wishing to raise their competition skills, a “Not the National Squad” Week to provide a lead in to the competition season;.

Sports psychology topics will be provided by Helen Wood, who has coached at the National Squad Week, and at the Queensland club level. Guest speakers such as Bruce Taylor will attend, and lend their experience to the agenda.

The format will be morning presentations starting 9:00 am, a regatta styled task during the best part of the day, and a debriefing/scoring/flight analysis session in the evening. Scoring will be handicapped and calculated on the Wallington Scoring System, just for fun.

Participants will ideally have had some competition experience, though this is not essential. Independent Operators’ Ratings will be a condition of participation. A fee of $150 is budgeted to cover expenses. Capacity is limited and is one quarter filled at this point. Contact Paul Mander 0417 447 974, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. NSW State Gliding Championships 2010 PDF Print E-mail
Written by Dave Boulter

Lake Keepit will be holding the NSW State gliding championships this year – from Sat 27th November thru Sat 4th December. That’s the week following Narromine cup week.

In the past few years its been a bit disappointing how few NSW club members have participated in comps at Keepit. Our comps have been dominated by Kingaroy and DDSC pilots. Not complaining about those guys coming, but it would be nice to have more  NSW pilots at the NSW comp.

The comp will include multiclass sections for std, 15m 18m and open, plus Club class which will be open to ALL gliders. The Club class is an ideal competition for new or relatively inexperienced pilots and I’d like to encourage more NSW club pilots to join in this and give competition a go. As you’d know, its normally a very friendly and supportive group flying in club class.

We have a limit of 60 gliders and from past experience we have had to close off entries at this number a month or two before the comp. I’d suggest also that first in get the best accommodation. The good units at the caravan park normally fill up fast. (All beds at the club will be occupied by members and workers.)

We don’t as yet have the entry forms on the website – standby – but those interested can email me This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to reserve an entry. See our website www.keepitsoaring.com  for accommodation options. If making a reservation at the State Park  caravan park ensure you mention that its for the gliding comp.
